I am an abstract painter. I received my BFA in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I now live in Austin, TX, and paint primarily in oil, acrylic and encaustic.

But the deeper issue I was raising was beyond mere art politics: I wished to elevate the verbally inarticulate silence of the painted canvas to a role of such total independence and authority that we can say…that “art is autonomous.”
