New Website and Blog for Texas Wax Encaustic Artists

New Website and Blog for Texas Wax Encaustic Artists

I’m pleased to announce that the encaustic group I belong to, Texas Wax, has just unveiled their new website and blog — designed jointly by artist and web guru extraordinaire Haley Nagy and yours truly.  Please feel free to check it out while we continue getting our artists added to the site.  There’s already plenty of information there: history of Texas Wax groups, upcoming classes and exhibitions, photos from previous exhibitions, resources, and plenty of ways to get involved. “Working in Wax” Exhibit Opens May 3, 2009

“Poppies in a Windstorm”
Encaustic and Beeswax on Paper
12″ x 12″

Three of my encaustic paintings are showing in the “Working in Wax” exhibit at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek California.  The show runs from May 3 through June 21, 2009, with an opening reception on May 6 from 5:00—7:00 p.m., and a Culture + Cocktails Reception on June 18 from 6:00—8:00 p.m.

Eileen P. Goldenberg was the juror for this show. She stated, “Selecting well conceived, beautifully executed, and visually satisfying art works was my vision for this show. I was looking for artists who give us a glimpse into their emotions and lives. Though the focus of this show is the material, what is vital to art is the expression of the artists, and it is their visual language that shines through.”

Find out more about this show, the juror and the artists at the Bedford Gallery website.

The Bedford Gallery is located at:
601 Civic Dr.
Walnut Creek, CA 94596

To all my friends, and especially to my California friends, I hope you can make it to this show.  It promises to be a really great exhibit!

What Are We Doing Here?

What Are We Doing Here?

Dear Readers,

Yesterday marked the one-month anniversary of my new combined blog and website, and a little over four years since I initially started my art blog.

When I began my blog, I did not have a clear idea of why I was starting a blog (read my tiny first post).   I started it because I could, I guess.

Over the years, I have used my blog to post my new work, my art news, invitations to and photos from my art openings.  I’ve also published reviews of other exhibits, class notes from classes I have taken (going all the way back to art school), and a few how-to’s and reviews that may be of interest to other artists.
