Working in Wax Exhibit Continues Through June 21

The Working in Wax Exhibit at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA -- in which I have three paintings displayed -- continues through June 21, 2009, so you can still catch it if you are in the Northern California area.  There's a Culture + Cocktails Reception for “Working in Wax” on June 18, 6:00—8:00 p.m.

I’m on Cloud Nine from the 5×7 Art Splurge at the Arthouse!

Thursday night, my husband and I went to the Artists Preview party for the 2009 5x7 show at the Arthouse.  I was most surprised and thrilled to see that my two little paintings got a primo spot in the exhibition!  On the main wall, under the writing, top shelf.  They looked so good there!

What Are We Doing Here?

Dear Readers,

Yesterday marked the one-month anniversary of my new combined blog and website, and a little over four years since I initially started my art blog.

When I began my blog, I did not have a clear idea of why I was starting a blog (read my tiny first post).   I started it because I could, I guess.

It’s a Great Day!

It's my birthday!

And it's a perfect spring day here in Austin. It's sunny and warm, and the trees are all leafing out in a lovely shade of fresh green. My bougainvillea, lantana, and various other flowering plants are in spectacular bloom. My garden presented me today with the 4 beautiful calla lilies you see here.

In a successful painting everything is integral…all the parts belong to the whole. If you remove an aspect or element you are removing its wholeness.
