New Design for Art Site

In December, I decided to separate my blog and shop from the main art site.  I am so pleased to announce that the new design for my art site is finally complete!

The intention for the main site was to create a very slimmed down site which focuses only on my recent art, and includes news of upcoming exhibitions, and my artist statement, bio, and resumé.  I have left all the galleries of art series up for now, but in the near future, I do plan to remove all the galleries except my latest series of abstract paintings.

Here’s the new design:

New Site for My Blog and More

Part 2 of my site redesign is this Blog.  I imported 118 pages from my initial art site and 286 posts going back to 2005 (down from 418).  I have moved the very popular 18 color exercises to this site (if you plan to suggest these to your students, please make a note of the new URL for the color exercises: http://marilynfenn.com/continued/color-theory-exercises/).  These were made as cut paper exercises at SAIC in 1992, and I then made them into Flash files in 1999 for my first artist portfolio site.

Marilyn Fenn – In the Studio also contains a smattering of recommended art books (a list that I plan to expand this year); info about encaustic and about designing websites for artists; and my little tale of becoming an artist—all under the More button.  Plus I keep adding links to other wonderful artists and art resources on the Links pages.

(I only wish I’d thought of the name I am actually using for the site—”Marilyn Fenn – In the Studio”—before setting up the whole thing in a differently-named directory—”http://marilynfenn.com/continued.”   🙄 )

If you want to be notified of new artwork, and keep up with me on whatever art-related news and ideas I will blog about, this is the site to subscribe to.  The subscribe button is in the ochre-colored box on the sidebar.

Check it out.  Marilyn Fenn – In the Studio, at http://marilynfenn.com/continued/

New Site for My Art Shop

Part 3 of 3 of my website redesign is also complete!  Whew!  The shop has been completely rebuilt in a different e-commerce solution and is now live!  I think I crossed all the t’s and dotted all the i’s, but if you find something wonky or weird, feel free to let me know. 🙂

I will be adding new work for sale as it becomes done and ready, and from time to time, I will also be adding the very limited number of signed and numbered limited edition giclée prints remaining in my inventory.  Some are matted and some are unmatted; eventually I will also add the few I have that have been matted and framed.  I have also decided to let some of my older original paintings and drawings find new homes.

You can subscribe to be notified of new items in the shop via the Subscribe link at the bottom of every page.

So, in essence, I have one site just for my new art; a second site for my art blog and other related information, and a third site just for the sale of my artwork.  I think this will be easier for me to handle, and each site should be speedier than my one site was when all of these things were combined.  Each site links to both of the others at the very bottom of each page, in the little footer links (as well as in a few places on each site), so hopefully, you can find what you are looking for!  Let me know what you think!  Be sure to contact me if you need help finding anything that was here before.

  • Marilyn… I love the use of strong shapes against soft colors. Such a contrast, yet works beautifully! Kudos
