New Painting: Not-So-Daily Painting 2012-005

"Not-So-Daily Painting 2012-005" Ink and watercolor pencils on heavy Raffine sketch paper 6″ x 5.75″ © 2012 Marilyn Fenn Last week, I resumed working on my Not-So-Daily Paintings/Drawings series, and also the work inspired by the sculptures of Lee Bontecou. Here's the first one from last week. I'll be posting more for the next several days.

How to Destroy (and Recover) a Painting in 10 (or so) Not-So-Easy Steps

“Mollycoddling the Collywobbles” | Oil on canvas | 18″ x 18″ | © 2012 Marilyn Fenn - This painting started out very differently than it ended up. In a month full of daily interruptions (far more then the usual tolerable level of daily interruptions), I had a hard time keeping the same frame of mind while I worked sporadically on this canvas.

New Painting: Squeeee!

Squeeee! | Oil on canvas | 24" x 36" | © 2012 Marilyn Fenn - I was working on this painting when my husband broke his leg (badly!).  Even before his accident, this painting was giving me fits.  I am finally done with it and quite happy.

And Another New Painting: “Taco and Feud in Asia Minor”

“Taco and Feud in Asia Minor” | Oil on canvas | 18″ x 18″ | © 2012 Marilyn Fenn -- This is another work that started out quite differently than it ended up. It was filled from corner to corner, but then I kept taking out more and more stuff. I'm much happier with it now. :)

Another New Painting: “If Women Walked on the Moon”

"If Women Walked on the Moon" | Oil on canvas | 12" x 12" | © 2012 Marilyn Fenn -- I think this is my favorite of my recent paintings. I'd love to paint this loose all the time -- or looser even. I don't know why it doesn't always seem possible. Constitutionally predisposed to tightness, I fear...

More New Work: “Bloop!”

"Bloop!" | Oil on canvas | 12" x 12" | © 2012 Marilyn Fenn -- This painting is sort of an experiment in soft and broken colors, and I do love the palette.  I hope to do more in soft tones like this in the future.

More New Work: “Here We Go Again, August 29, 2012″

"Here We Go Again, August 29, 2012" | Oil on canvas | 16″ x 12″ | © 2012 Marilyn Fenn -- Here's another new painting that started out quite differently than it ended up. I was working on it during the time Hurricane Isaac was building in the Gulf Coast, so I guess you could say that became an influence. ;)

New Painting: “Oops! ‘ScuseMe!”

"Oops! ScuseMe!" | Oil on canvas | 16″ x 12″ | © 2012 Marilyn Fenn -- I got a bit bolder with the colors on this painting.  This was intended to be a continuation of the same visual idea from the painting I posted yesterday.  The fact that it isn't quite seems to be proof of something, but what exactly, I'm not sure.  Another goofy composition, but I love it!
